    OPERAPOPS!

    This event has been moved indoors to the Winspear Opera House due to the threat of inclement weather.

    This is not a ticketed event. Free admission is first come, first served the night of the concert. We recommend arriving early to guarantee your place; doors open at 6pm. Previous registrations helped us to assess capacity limits and do not guarantee a seat. Walk-ups welcome, based on availability.

    Free! An Enchanted Evening of Broadway Classics!

    Starring Deanna Breiwick, soprano / Sasha Cooke, mezzo-soprano / Lucas Meachem, baritone, and The Dallas Opera Orchestra conducted by Maestro Emmanuel Villaume.

    Hum along to all your favorites from iconic shows including My Fair Lady, South Pacific, The Sound of Music, Carousel, Paint Your Wagon, Candide, and more!

    Three celebrated stars join the orchestra for selections including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Glitter and Be Gay,” and, of course, “Some Enchanted Evening.”

    Plus selections from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann.

    What to Expect When Returning to the Winspear

    • Please read AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Code of Conduct. Attending a live performance at the Winspear Opera House means you accept the terms of this agreement.
    • Masks are required to enter the building and must be worn at all times including while seated. If you forget your mask, one will be provided for you. If you refuse to wear a mask, you will be asked to leave.
    • The Lexus Red ramp is fully operational. There is no valet parking.
    • There will be a public safety check as you enter the building. ATTPAC volunteers will assist with forming a socially distanced line as needed.
    • Concessions will be available before the performance through the Noble App. We recommend downloading it to your mobile device in advance.
    • There is no intermission. Late seating will be done at the discretion of the Front of House Manager. Those who arrive late will be seated in a special section, based on availability.
    • If you are an Inner Circle member, please refer to an email from DonorServices@dallasopera.org that provides more details about your complimentary parking and the outdoor Inner Circle Lounge. In case of inclement weather, the outdoor Inner Circle Lounge will be closed. Your complimentary drink voucher can be redeemed at any of the lobby bars.

    The Pearl Fishers

    Long ago, two men fall in love with a priestess—then swear to give her up for the sake of their friendship. But they don’t! One man makes her forget her vows and the other loses his life in this torrid tale of forbidden love and treachery. Gloriously romantic music from Carmen’s composer, including the famous “friendship” duet, the sensuous soprano aria, and the tenor showpiece Caruso made famous.

    Joyce El-Khoury as Leïla. The embodiment of a prima donna, her portrayals “are intense and commanding…and the voice has an innate beauty.” —OperaWire  

    René Barbera as Nadir. From clarion high notes to ringing delicacy and nuance, here is a tenor who has it all—wowing audiences at major houses including La Scala!

    The Barber of Seville

    Flight

    The Dallas Opera National Vocal Competition

    WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

    People’s Choice Award (determined by audience vote): Blake Denson, baritone

    Millions of people watch American Idol and The Voice. Why? Because it’s fascinating to see the best-of-the-best young talent compete for a shot at stardom. Now, opera fans can be in the house as some of the nation’s best young professional singers (many already performing with national opera companies) compete for major prize money.

    Hear the eight finalists (chosen from more than 300 applicants!) perform with The Dallas Opera Orchestra — and watch as the panel of international experts, including Music Director Emmanuel Villaume, choose the winner!

    You’ll be part of the action by voting in “The People’s Choice” category. All tickets just $10!

    Winners are selected by a distinguished panel of judges, chaired by The Dallas Opera’s Artistic Consultant David Lomelí and including Maestro Villaume; Afton Battle, General Director of Fort Worth Opera; Christina Scheppelmann, General Director of Seattle Opera; Jean Kellogg, Executive Director of the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera; and Brian Zeger, Artistic Director of the Marcus Vocal Arts Department at The Juilliard School.

    Face masks are required for indoor performances when moving about the venue and when seated, regardless of vaccination status. Fall 2021 events will be limited to 50% capacity to allow for social distancing.
