Bizet’s CARMEN
Monday, September 14, 8 PM
Obsession turns fatal in this sold-out American premiere production by French director Romain Gilbert. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Carmen just as Paris audiences did at the inaugural performance in 1875—featuring a re-creation of the original staging! The Habanera, the Seguidilla, the Toreador Song, and more … our celebrated maestro Emmanuel Villaume and TDO’s Orchestra and Chorus bring you the world’s most popular opera, starring Grammy®-winning mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti and tenor Saimir Pirgu (who returns for LOHENGRIN in 2027). Teresa Perrotta and Gihoon Kim amaze as Micaëla and Escamillo, respectively.
Poulenc’s DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES
Monday, September 21, 8 PM
Time travel to 1794 Paris, where France’s Reign of Terror is raging. A frightened young aristocrat enters a convent, desperate to find peace from religious persecution. But as the Mother Superior warns, she has entered a house of prayer, not an escape from reality. Based on a real-life incident, 16 Carmelite nuns—each with her own private demons—must decide if they will live in fear or die together in faith as martyrs on the guillotine. This production stars Joyce El-Khoury, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Leah Hawkins, Deanna Breiwick, and Patricia Racette. Emmanuel Villaume conducts.
Portman’s THE LITTLE PRINCE
Monday, September 28, 8 PM
Written by Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman and librettist Nicholas Wright, The Little Prince is based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved French novella. In this action-packed, family friendly, intergalactic story, a magical boy visits Earth, determined to find a way to save his own tiny planet and everything he cherishes. This Dallas Opera premiere, which sold out performances, stars baritone Kyle Miller as the Pilot and Houstonian Everett Baumgarten in his TDO debut as the titular Prince. TDO Chorus Director and Head of Music Paolo Bressan makes his American mainstage conducting debut leading the TDO Orchestra, cast, and Greater Dallas Choral Society.
Verdi’s DON CARLO
Monday, October 5, 8 PM
Set amidst the tumult of the Spanish Inquisition, Verdi’s dark masterpiece has it all: forbidden love, heartfelt friendship, searing family drama, and political intrigue to spare. Led by conductor Emmanuel Villaume, The Dallas Opera Orchestra and Chorus, American tenor Stephen Costello, Australian soprano Nicole Car, American bass-baritone Christian Van Horn, French mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine, and American bass Morris Robinson all return to the Winspear and Canadian baritone Etienne Dupuis makes his TDO debut in this epic finale to the company’s 2025/2026 season.
