    Privacy Policy

This policy covers how The Dallas Opera treats the personal information that it collects through our website or offline via phone, by mail, or at The Dallas Opera offices. Personal information includes, but not limited to, information related to your current and past usage of Dallas Opera’s products and services. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, address, email address, phone number, or other information that is not otherwise publicly available.

    Collection of Information

    Anonymous Collection

Personal information does not have to be collected by The Dallas Opera in order to purchase Dallas Opera products and services. You may purchase tickets or donate and remain anonymous if you choose to pay by cash in person at our Ticket Office at performances or during business hours.

    General Information Collection

You may visit and browse our website as often as you like without logging in and no personal information about your visit will be collected. The Dallas Opera does collect general information about the way in which you use our website. The Dallas Opera uses IP addresses to analyze trends, administer its website, track user movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. The Dallas Opera aggregates usage information and uses it only to improve and refine The Dallas Opera website and its services. We may perform (or have third parties perform) analyses of visitors’ behavior, and may share aggregated, anonymous data with sponsors and advertisers.

    Donor Recognition

The Dallas Opera enjoys providing donors with recognition for their gifts through print, spoken, and/or web-based media. However, you may choose to waive this recognition and make a gift anonymously. Please contact the Development Department at donorservices@dallasopera.org if you would like your gift to be anonymous. We will always respect your decision to keep a gift confidential.

    Personal Information Collection

The Dallas Opera collects personal information when you make a purchase or a contribution, join our mailing list (email or other), request information, participate in a promotion or an online survey, apply for employment with The Dallas Opera, and when you attend certain special events.

Depending on the nature of your interaction with The Dallas Opera, we may ask you for information such as your name, phone number, physical address, social security number, birth date, company-related information, email address, credit card information including expiration date and billing address, and product preferences. Once you register with The Dallas Opera and sign in to any services, you are no longer anonymous to The Dallas Opera.

Financial information is collected on a transaction-by-transaction basis.

    Use and Sharing of Information

    Use of Donor Information

Donor information is used to complete the transaction, record the donation, generate the appropriate tax receipt, and to appropriately acknowledge each gift donation. Donor records are also used for general record keeping and internal analysis. Credit card information is used to process the gift but is not retained. The Dallas Opera does not sell, rent, market, or otherwise disclose donor personal information to any outside party unless required under law nor will it send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. Within the Dallas Opera, access to donor information is limited to staff members with a need to know. Staff members are bound by policy to keep such information confidential.

    Personal Information Use

Your personal information may be used by The Dallas Opera (or third parties engaged by us) to: (1) fulfill your requests for products and services, (2) contact you, (3) customize the advertising and web content, (4) conduct research, (5) respond to subpoenas, court orders or legal process, and (6) establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

Financial information is used to execute purchase and donation transactions (on a transaction-by-transaction basis). We share this information with credit card and check processing organizations as necessary only to complete the transaction. This information may be encrypted and stored for logging purposes and portions of this information will be used to confirm patrons’ purchases.

    Third Parties

The Dallas Opera may provide your name and address to other non-profit organizations for mutually beneficial programs (although we do not share any other information about you, the selection criteria may result in the third party being able to identify your relationship with The Dallas Opera in a broad manner, i.e., that you are a subscriber or donor). The Dallas Opera does not rent, sell, or exchange our mailing list with any for-profit entities. You can request at any time that we do not share your name and address with such third parties. The Dallas Opera does not monitor or control the privacy policies of third parties. The Dallas Opera may share personal information with third-party service providers in connection with the purposes described in the “Personal Information Use” section above; such service providers are prohibited from using the personal information except to provide related services to us.

    Emails/Mailings/Calling

All marketing emails sent by The Dallas Opera offers the option for you to be removed from the opt-in list. You may request to be removed from our marketing mailing or phone list at any time. In addition, you can edit personal information in your account with us, specifically your name, address, phone number, interest preferences and contact preferences by contacting us at the phone number or mailing address listed at the end of this document. Please note that we may still send you confirmation emails or other non-marketing emails related to your orders or account.
