    Don Carlo

    NEW PRODUCTION

Passions and politics ignite in Verdi’s potent drama!

Be there for this stunning season finale! Set amidst the tumult of the Spanish Inquisition, Verdi’s masterpiece has it all—forbidden love, heartfelt bromance, searing family drama, and political intrigue to spare. King Philip II and the fearsome Grand Inquisitor battle for power … and Don Carlo, the king’s heir, struggles to conceal his passion for the Queen, who’s also his stepmother! Foes and friends maneuver and manipulate in one of opera’s most magnificent masterworks.

Verdi’s epic demands the utmost in vocal and dramatic virtuosity. This stupendous cast presents Don Carlo in all its brilliance: Dupuis! Margaine! Van Horn! Robinson! And as the doomed lovers, Nicole Car, hailed as “deeply artistic and full of feeling” (NEW YORK CLASSICAL REVIEW), and “the prodigiously-gifted Stephen Costello.” (ASSOCIATED PRESS)

    The Little Prince

    THE DALLAS OPERA PREMIERE

“A delight” for children and grown-ups alike!
    —THE INDEPENDENT, London

Take a flight of the imagination when a pilot stranded in the desert meets the little prince! After an action-packed galactic journey, this magical boy visits Earth, determined to find a way to save his own tiny planet and everything he cherishes. Friendship, loss, love, and finding out that what’s truly important in life “is invisible to the eye” … much is explored in this “enchanting opera that’s filled with warm wisdom and lyrical beauty.” (BOSTON HERALD)

Francesca Zambello’s iconic production brings to life one of the best-loved books ever written, and the story soars through luminous music by Academy Award-winner Rachel Portman. As the pilot, Kyle Miller, lauded for his “rich and sonorous baritone” (OPERAWIRE), leads the cast.

    Dialogues of the Carmelites

    THE DALLAS OPERA PREMIERE

Shattering … “austerely beautiful … and utterly wrenching.”
    —THE NEW YORK TIMES

Time travel to 1794 Paris, where France’s Reign of Terror is raging. A frightened young aristocrat enters a convent, desperate to find peace from religious persecution. But as the Mother Superior warns, she has entered a house of prayer, not an escape from reality. Based on a real-life incident, 16 Carmelite nuns—each with her own private demons—must decide if they will live in fear or die together in faith as martyrs on the guillotine.

Joyce El-Khoury captures all hearts with “radiant authority” (THE INDEPENDENT) as Sister Blanche; “Uncommonly enchanting” mezzo Stéphanie D’Oustrac (JERUSALEM POST) is Mother Marie; Leah Hawkins, the Metropolitan Opera’s 2024 Beverly Sills Artist, is the new Prioress; and the remarkable Patricia Racette gives “a masterclass in characterization” (HOUSTON PRESS) as the old Prioress.
