Susannah Wapshott read Music at Manchester University, and was subsequently awarded scholarships to the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Since 2008, she has been a member of the music staff at Scottish Opera, where she has worked on over 50 productions. Ms. Wapshott assisted on productions of Nixon in China, Katya Kabanova, Greek (at BAM), The Trial, Orfeo ed Euridice, and Macbeth and was Music Director for the critically acclaimed small-scale tours of Carmen, La traviata, Rodelinda and Macbeth, touring the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Susannah is currently the Scottish Opera’s associate chorus master, recently guiding the chorus work for Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves at the Adelaide Festival 2020. She won a conducting award from the GEMMA Classical Music Trust in 2017 and conducted the Grampian Youth Orchestra summer residential course in 2019. Susannah Wapshott is also music director of the Helensburgh Oratorio Choir.
