    Benjamin Appl

“A vocal presence so arresting it almost seems hypnotic.”—The Irish Times

In its grand tradition of bringing Texas audiences today’s most important song recitalists, TDO proudly presents German baritone Benjamin Appl—revered for a voice “that sounds like he belongs to the last of the old great masters of song”…with “an almost infinite range of colors.”—Suddeutsche Zeitung

Appl—mentored by the legendary Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau—was named Gramophone magazine’s Young Artist of the Year in 2016. BBC Music Magazine praised his talent, writing, “Appl is not only a singer of boundless promise, he is already a great artist.”

This solo recital program includes a full lieder performance of Schubert’s Winterreise accompanied by pianist James Baillieu.

Please note: This event will be held at the Moody Performance Hall. Click here for location and parking details. Performance time is 1 hour and 12 minutes with no intermission. Program, artists, and prices are subject to change.

    VIVA DIVA! Starring Joyce DiDonato

    “Staggering, joyful artistry…a transformative artist!”—Gramophone

When it comes to captivating an audience, no artist outshines Joyce DiDonato.

Be there for an evening of vocal splendor and spirit as this Grammy Award-winning megastar performs Berlioz’s famous La mort de Cléopâtre (The Death of Cleopatra) and Jake Heggie’s mesmerizing Camille Claudel: Into the Fire. Based on the life of the renowned sculptress (and Rodin’s lover), this masterwork “compresses a tragic life of operatic dimensions into a song cycle of great beauty and emotional resonance” (The New York Times). Also featured: Beethoven’s stirring “Coriolan” Overture with The Dallas Opera Orchestra.
