TDO Connections – 2022/2023 Season Archive

This season, TDO Connections explored the leadership, creativity, and representation of women in opera through Rigoletto and Così fan tutte. Courageous, intelligent, dismissed, objectified, joyous, and powerful–these works portray and engage female characters with a richness that invites additional learning and conversation. TDO Connections began with a live panel discussion with Jin-Ya Huang (Break Bread Break Borders), Audra Scott (Booker T. High School for the Performing and Visual Arts), and Stephanie Havey (Associate Director/Rigoletto) in September 2022 and ended with a debrief from the Rigoletto and Così fan tutte creative teams and Dallas Opera staff. We are excited to present online resources and in-person events to share in our learning journey.

    Hart Institute for Women Conductors

The Dallas Opera’s Hart Institute of Women Conductors provides an opportunity for an international conversation with panelists from different sectors and disciplines who will discuss the roles, impact, and representation of women in the arts, business, and community from historic, academic, and personal perspectives. We are presenting two additional panel discussions for the Hart Institute on November 15 and 17, 2022. We hope that you will join us for these informative and inspiring conversations.

Celebrating and empowering women is a continuous effort in many fields, and opera is no exception.
