    American tenor Jonathan Burton, praised for being “an engaging all-around singer with a powerful, full-bodied sound” (Opera News), debuts as Cavaradossi on opening and closing nights. Internationally celebrated Joseph Calleja brings his “honey-tone tenor” (The New York Times) to a long-awaited Dallas debut as Cavaradossi on October 15 &18. Ewa Płonka lends her “impressive stage presence” (Das Opernglas) to the lovelorn Tosca.     Charming Music, Silly Antics—Fun For the Whole Family

    Get out your pencils—you’ll want to keep track of this one! Manuelita loves Pépito, but he’s away at war. She captures the attention of many, but she is determined to be true to her love. That is, until a letter arrives from Pépito and turns everything topsy turvy! This one-act comedy is full of fun, charm, and delightful music.

    Join us for this special performance, sung in English, and designed for audiences aged 3 and up! Pépito is just under 60 minutes (with no intermission!), making this the perfect family show! All seating is general admission at the beautiful Winspear Opera House. Featuring The Dallas Opera Orchestra.

    Join us for this special performance, sung in English, and designed for audiences aged 3 and up! The Billy Goats Gruff is approximately 35 minutes (with no intermission!), making this the perfect family show! All seating is general admission at the beautiful Winspear Opera House.

    Lawrence Brownlee

    One of “the finest, most sky-scraping bel canto tenors in the world today.”—The New York Times

    Hailed by The New York Times as “an international star in the bel canto operatic repertory,” tenor Lawrence Brownlee brings a recital program of poetry from the Harlem Renaissance in song. The songs revolve around themes of joy, empowerment, faith, love, and strength in the face of challenge.

    Texts by Langston Hughes, Georgia Douglas Johnson, Claude McKay, James Weldon Johnson, and others are set to music by recent and living composers, five from whom Brownlee commissioned these settings: Damien Sneed, Brandon Spencer, Jasmine Barnes, Joel Thompson, and Shawn E. Okpebholo. Brownlee also collaborated closely with Dr. Louise Toppin, soprano and vocal professor at the University of Michigan, to revive select works from composers Margaret Bonds and Robert Owen; in addition to including works from composer Jeremiah Evans. The project was also recently released in a recording from Brownlee, titled RISING.

    Lawrence Brownlee is accompanied by Grammy Award-nominated Myra Huang, “a coloristic tour de force” (The New York Times) and “among the top accompanists of her generation” (Opera News).

    The Titus Family Recital will be held at the Moody Performance Hall.
