La traviata (2024/2025, debut)
Nicholas Sipes began dancing at the age of four. He attended The Baltimore School for the Arts for high school before moving to New York City to continue his training at The School of American Ballet. After SAB, Sipes joined the Pennsylvania Ballet where he danced in various ballets including Jerome Robbin’s The Concert, Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Mathew Neenan’s Carmina Burana and premiered in Peter Quanz’s Jupiter Symphony. He then joined the second National Tour of Billy Elliot the Musical and made his Broadway debut as Older Billy in the Broadway production one year later. He’s since toured Europe for two years in a production of West Side Story, has performed in an Encores production of On Your Toes at New York City Center, and danced in the Nutcracker Rouge with Company XIV. Sipes has performed at the Metropolitan Opera for five seasons as a dancer and has television and advertising credits, as well. In Los Angeles, he has performed with LA Opera, Mixed Emotions Theatrix and Laurie Sefton Creates. This summer, he premiered in the principal dancer role in Santa Fe Opera/Dallas Opera co-production of La traviata, as well as appearing as Leopold in Rosenkavalier.
