Tickets to all performances of The Dallas Opera are available on our website. You’ll always find the best availability and pricing directly on our site! If you prefer to purchase over the phone or require additional assistance, call our Patron Services staff at 214.443.1000 (Option 1) during our operating hours Monday-Friday 10am-5pm (hours may vary for holidays and during the summer).
When buying tickets it is important to always buy them directly through The Dallas Opera. While many unauthorized third-party resellers may list our performances, these companies are neither affiliated with nor endorsed by The Dallas Opera. All authorized sales occur directly through The Dallas Opera Ticket Office or online at dallasopera.org.
In-person ticket purchases are available at the Performance Box Office unless the performance is already sold-out. The Performance Box Office, located in the East Lobby, is open starting 90-minutes prior to curtain time. To most effectively serve you, we are unable to make cash transactions at this time. All major credit cards are accepted. For additional information, contact Patron Services 214.443.1000.
The Dallas Opera welcomes children ages five and above to mainstage performances, concerts, and recitals at the Winspear Opera House that are suitable for young children. As many operas contain adult subject matter, we strongly advise that parents check our website for content advisories and read the synopsis in advance of purchasing tickets for children regardless of age.
Any patron with a child who creates a disturbance or interferes with other’s enjoyment of the performance will be asked to leave without a refund. You may watch the remainder of the performance from the lobby monitors. For this reason, we recommend bringing your children to programs designed specifically for families.
Everyone, regardless of age, who attends a ticketed performance presented by The Dallas Opera at the Winspear Opera House or Moody Performance Hall must have a ticket. This includes free, ticketed performances.
Bring a friend, neighbor, coworker, or family member and treat them to a new experience! If that isn’t possible, you may donate your extra ticket as a qualifying charitable gift equal to the face value of the ticket. Tickets can be donated up to one hour prior to curtain time. You can call the ticket office at 214.443.1000 during regular office hours or leave a message at 214.443.1005 after hours. The receipt for your ticket donation will be mailed to you in January.
Ticket exchanges are allowed but must be for another performance of the same opera. All exchanges are subject to any difference in price between the original ticket and the new ticket. One of the benefits of being a season subscriber is feeless exchanges! Single ticket holders can also exchange their tickets for a $10/per ticket fee. Exchanges must be completed at least one business day prior to the performance. All late exchanges, including those made by season subscribers, will incur an additional $10 per ticket fee. Once the performance begins, we are unable to offer exchanges.
The Dallas Opera offers $15 Student Tickets beginning 90 minutes prior to every performance at the Box Office, based on availability. Limit two tickets per valid Student ID.

There is a wide array of other dining options available throughout the Dallas Arts District. To learn more about dining options near the Winspear Opera House, visit the Dallas Arts District here.
No food or beverages are permitted inside McDermott Hall during performances of The Dallas Opera.
The Margaret McDermott Performance Hall opens for seating 30 minutes prior to all performances. Prior to the hall opening for seating, patrons are welcome to use seating options in the lobby as well as on each level of the Winspear.
The Dallas Opera traditionally performs operas in their original languages. English translations (called titles) are projected above the stage throughout every performance. The titles are also used even when the opera is sung in English.
In general, you can expect an opera to last between two-and-a-half and three hours, including intermissions. Some operas are longer than three hours with multiple intermissions while others are shorter than two hours and presented without intermission. Family Shows are typically 30 minutes to one hour in length. For details on running time and intermissions, consult your performance webpage.
There are no food or beverages permitted inside the performance hall. Please silence your mobile devices and refrain from talking or texting on your cell phone during the performance. Recording of any performance by camera, audio, or video equipment, including cell phones, is strictly prohibited.
Everyone loves applause! It tells our performers and crew that you like the show. There are moments where you’ll normally hear applause: when the conductor enters the pit, at the end of an act, or after a performer has finished an impressive aria/song. Not every opera has clear breaks for applause, so if in doubt, you may wait until other audience members begin to clap. Some enthusiastic audience members may even shout “Bravo!” or “Brava!” (Italian for ‘well done!’). At the end of the opera you may hear “Bravi!” (‘Good job y’all!’) or “Bravi tutti!” (‘Good job all of y’all!’), but cheers of all kinds are welcome, especially during the bows!
Mainstage opera intermissions are usually twenty minutes long unless the program indicates otherwise. Stretch your legs, relax and enjoy a drink with your friends, or take a restroom break. Chimes will let you know that the intermission is ending and it’s time to silence your devices and return to your seat. Once the doors are closed, late seating will be at the discretion of the house manager.
If you have an emergency, please try to exit as discreetly and quietly as possible, for the sake of other patrons. Latecomers and those who exit during the performance will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager.
Additional information about each opera in our current season can be found on that performance’s page under the ‘Events’ tab on The Dallas Opera’s website. There you can find helpful tools like a synopsis, runtime, and content ratings similar to those used for movies.
You can also learn more on our TDO Connection’s webpage. TDO Connections™ is The Dallas Opera’s intentional process for human-centered, operatic storytelling. Each opera season, TDO will explore thematic elements relevant to our communities through select opera productions.
If you want to learn more about opera, our Opera 101 page has some great information about common opera terms, the history of opera, and answers some common questions about opera. Additionally, the TDO Education Portal offers online learning materials related to past and present productions that are designed to meet TEKS Standards across multiple subjects.
