Career highlights: Filipina American soprano Laura Corina Sanders is a native of San Francisco, currently based in Houston. Her accolades include first place in the 2018 Lotte Lenya Competition, first place in the 2023 Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston Career Grant Competition, an encouragement award in the 2023 Camille Coloratura Awards, and an encouragement award in the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Sanders is an alum of University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, and she trained with Shreveport Opera’s Resident Artist Program. Notable appearances include Mobile Opera, Union Avenue Opera, Charlottesville Opera, Opera Orlando, Hawaii Opera Theatre, and Minnesota Opera, where she performed in the world premiere of Jocelyn Hagen’s The Song Poet. Her roles have included Micaëla in Peter Brook’s The Tragedy of Carmen, Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, The Daugher in Philip Glass’ The Juniper Tree, and Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden.
