Langelihle Mngxati, baritone, was born in South Africa, and graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. While there, he won first prize in the South African Tertiary Institutions Choral Association competition, and performed as the bass soloist in Haydn’s Missa Sanctae Caeciliae and Handel’s Messiah. Langelihle’s operatic roles include Simone in Gianni Schicchi, (2012, 2014), Sarastro in The Magic Flute (2012, 2016), Emile in South Pacific (2012), Olin Blitch in Floyd’s Susannah (2015), Belcore in The Elixir of Love (2014) with The Dallas Opera Education Outreach Program, and in 2015 returned to sing Colas in Bastien and Bastienne. Langelihle received his Performers Diploma from Southern Methodist University in 2015, and is currently pursuing an M.M. from the same university.
