The American bass has appeared at TDO previously as General Polkan/The Golden Cockerel, Beck Weathers/Everest, Eric Gold, and the Ghost of Vittorio Bazzetti/Great Scott (world premiere), and Ob/Becoming Santa Claus (world premiere). In 2020/2021, Burdette joins the inaugural season of the Atlanta Opera Company Players, as his hometown company looks to reimagine performances for their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Burdette’s additional scheduled engagements include Howard/Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s The Listeners (world premiere) at Den Norske Opera and both Peter Quince/A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Correspondent/Lord of Cries (world premiere) at Santa Fe Opera. He has recently returned to Atlanta Opera (Dead Man Walking), Opera Philadelphia (La bohème), Cincinnati Opera (The Marriage of Figaro), and Central City Opera (Claggart/Billy Budd). He also performed as Pangloss, Martin, and Cocambo/Candide with Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu. Other recent highlights include appearances at the Metropolitan Opera (Thomas Adès’s The Exterminating Angel), the Philadelphia Orchestra (Tosca), Seattle Opera (Così fan tutte), and Santa Fe Opera (Candide, Ariadne auf Naxos). Burdette appears as Stefano/Adès’sThe Tempest in the Met production on DVD.
