Career highlights: London-born mezzo soprano Joanne Evans is a graduate of San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program and of the residencies at the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, and the Festival d’Aixen-Provence, where she was awarded the Le Prix des Amis for Voice. Evans has been named winner of Music Academy of the West’s Marilyn Horne Song Competition and the Handel Aria Competition, and she was a Boston District winner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Most recently Evans understudied the role of Rosina in The Barber of Seville with Opera San Jose and has previously been seen in the roles of Olga in Eugene Onegin (Music Academy of the West), Maddalena in Rigoletto (Opera Colorado), and Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette (Opera Colorado). In 2025, Evans will take on the role of Flora in La traviata with Annapolis Opera and Berkshire Opera Festival.
