The beloved American mezzo-soprano, who previously starred at TDO in La cenerentola, La sonnambula, and La clemenza di Tito, has enriched classical music for four-and-a-half decades. Recent performances have included the world premiere of Lembit Beecher’s Sky on Swings (Opera Philadelphia); a performance alongside Susan Graham for the Orchestra of St. Luke’s DiMenna Center Benefit; a return to San Diego Opera as Madeline/Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers, a role she created a decade ago; opening the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s season with a tribute to Leonard Bernstein; Hall; making her Arizona Opera debut joining The 45th Anniversary Sapphire Celebration concert; and appearing in Three Decembers with Hawaii Opera Theater in Three Decembers. The mezzo has enjoyed close collaborations with several contemporary composers, among them Jake Heggie, Ricky Ian Gordon, and the late Dominick Argento. Her career has taken her to every great opera house internationally and has brought her collaborations with all the world’s greatest orchestras and conductors. She has also amassed a much acclaimed and extraordinarily varied discography.
