The bass-baritone has achieved major career successes in prestigious opera and concert venues, as well as on Broadway. Pittsinger is heard frequently at the Metropolitan Opera, where prominent among his performances have been live HD broadcasts of The Magic Flute, Manon, Hamlet, and Les contes d’Hoffmann. Recent Met performances have included Le Bret/Cyrano de Bergerac and Palémon/Thais. Among the roles he has premiered are Roy Disney/Philip Glass’s The Perfect American (Teatro Real Madrid) and Robert E. Lee/Glass’s Appomattox (Washington National Opera). He has also appeared in the world premiere of Jeanine Tesori and Tony Kushner’s A Blizzard on Marblehead Neck (Glimmerglass Festival). Recent operatic appearances have included Florencia en El Amazonas (Houston Grand Opera), Faust (Opera Omaha) and L’incoronazione di Poppea (Opera Theatre of Saint Louis). Pittsinger triumphed on Broadway starring as Émile de Becque/South Pacific at Lincoln Center. He also played the role on that production’s national tour. He recently starred in Man of La Mancha and Camelot (both at the Glimmerglass Festival), Sweeney Todd (Portland Opera), and Kiss Me Kate (Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet, Opéra Luxembourg).
