Benjamin Bjorklund is a 12-year-old male soprano from Central Iowa who has been a chorister and featured soloist at Heartland Youth Choir, Iowa Choral Directors Association’s 5th/6th Grade Opus Honor Choir, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and his school choirs. He began performing in opera productions at the age of 6, balancing little league baseball with summer productions at Des Moines Metropolitan Opera. Benjamin fell in love with the stage in his DMMO debut as Marie’s child in Wozzeck (2019) and returned soon after the pandemic in the children’s choruses of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2022) and Carmen (2023). Most recently, he had the opportunity to take center stage as Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande (2024) and is honored to reprise the role with The Dallas Opera.
