Originally from Cuba and established in Mexico, pianist and composer Ángel Rodríguez began to study music when he was just five years old. He further complemented his professional training in Piano with teacher Gonzalo Gutierrez, Orchestra Direction under Gonzalo Romeu, and Vocal Repertoire with Enrique Jasso and Kamal Khan.
For more than three decades of his career he has been a pianist for notable singers of international opera, such as Ramón Vargas, Rolando Villazón, Javier Camarena, Nadine Sierra, Joseph Calleja, Pretty Yende, Verónica Villarroel, Ailyn Pérez, Alfredo Daza, Kate Lindsey, Arturo Chacón, and José Bross, among many others; in important venues in Europe, Asia and America, including the Palacio de Bellas Artes in México, Teatro Real de Madrid, Termas de Caracalla in Rome, Gran Teatro del Liceo, Konzerthaus Berlin, Kennedy Center in Washington, Harris Theater in Chicago, Opernhaus Zürich, and the prestigious Rosenblatt Recitals in London.
He accompanied the renowned tenor Rolando Villazón in the documentary ‘A Mexican Dream’ which aired on the Arts Channel and also performed at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, China.
Ángel Rodríguez has been a pianist for the Opera de Cuba, and Opera de Bellas Artes in México with more than ninety titles in repertoire, collaborating with superstars such as Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, among other celebrities.
His recording accomplishments include two albums with famed tenor, Javier Camarena.
Currently Ángel Rodríguez teaches masterclasses at his Clinic of Interpretation and Vocal Style in Mexico, coupled with his work as a recitalist next to great opera figures, and as an arranger and music producer.
He is the founder and president of the Colegio de Arte Vocal, the only institution in Mexico that is dedicated exclusively to the art of singing.
