Contralto Alison Bolshoi, contralto, has a warmth and lyricism seldom heard in dramatic voices. In September 2022 Ms. Bolshoi performed Ortrud in Lohengrin in a concert for the Wagner Society of New York and will be covering the role for the Metropolitan Opera Guild in February 2023. She was contracted to cover Ortrud at The Dallas Opera in 2020. Ms. Bolshoi will perform the role of the Witch in Hansel und Gretel at Boheme Opera, NJ in December 2022 and will perform the role of Suzuki in Madame Butterfly in March 2023. She performed thrice at Carnegie Hall with MidAmerica Productions from 2019-2022. In 2019 she debuted as Amneris in Aida with Boheme Opera and as Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde with Opera America. Highlights of Ms. Bolshoi’s career include contracts with The San Francisco Opera, La Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, and at Český Krumlov, Czech Republic with the National Symphony. She’s the recipient of The Liederkranz Wagner Section Award and the Gerda Lissner Foundation Award.
