The lighting designer’s work has earned him both national and international recognition as a creator of dynamic designs in opera, new theatrical productions, and avant-garde dance. His design for Broadway’s Tony-Award winning revival of Company received great acclaim. Hase has worked at many of the major American opera companies, among them those of Dallas, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, New Orleans, and Boston. He has also worked extensively in American regional theaters, such as Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Center Stage, Alliance Theatre, The Dallas Theater Center, The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and Syracuse Stage. Internationally, Hase’s designs have been seen at Toronto’s Luminato Festival and Canadian Opera Company, Munich’s Bavarian State Opera, London’s Barbican Centre, Ireland’s Abbey Theatre, Malmö Opera in Sweden, The Singapore Arts Festival; and Tokyo Metro Arts Center, among many other venues. His work can be seen on DVD in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (LA Opera) and Jenůfa
(Malmö Opera). Hase is resident lighting designer and director for the Cincinnati Opera Summer Festival.
