Sue Blane is a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and was awarded an MBE for services to drama in 2007. Her acclaimed production designs include The Mikado and Christmas Eve for English National Opera, The Nutcracker and Alice in Wonderland for English National Ballet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Stockholm, Cabaret (Donmar), Sylvia (Birmingham Royal Ballet), The Marriage of Figaro (Welsh National Opera), The Barber of Seville (Scottish Opera), Duenna and Thieving Magpie (Opera North). Ms. Blane’s costume designs include Canterville Ghost (English National Ballet); Aladdin (Tokyo National Ballet); A Flea in Her Ear and Into the Woods (Old Vic); Alcina, Carmen, Der Rosenkavalier, Love for Three Oranges (English National Opera); Porgy & Bess and Carmen (Glyndebourne); Lohengrin (Bayreuth); and The Rocky Horror Show. Americans are familiar with Ms. Blane’s costume designs for films including The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Lady Jane.
