
The former Director of Artistic Administration for The Dallas Opera, Jonathan Pell has an extensive background in both music and theater. Pell came to The Dallas Opera in 1985 from WNET/THIRTEENin New York, where he was Coordinating Producer for Music Programming. Before joining WNET, Pell was active in concert and opera management for several years, representing an international roster of singers, conductors, and stage directors. Pell is also in demand as a judge for vocal competitions and has served in this capacity for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Luciano Pavarotti Opera Naples International Voice Competition, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation Grant awards, the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York, the George and Nora London Foundation Competition, and the Marguerite McCammon Competition in Fort Worth, as well as for the San Antonio Opera and The Dallas Opera guilds. He is on the board of directors of the Richard Tucker Music Foundation, where he served as chairman of their national auditions committee for many years.
