Jack Furness, director, is the Founder and Artistic Director of Shadwell Opera, one of the UK’s most exciting opera companies. With Shadwell Opera, Furness has led the production of a string of critically acclaimed contemporary operas in unique venues around London, bringing contemporary music theatre to new and diverse audiences. With Shadwell Opera, Furness’s productions have included Peter Maxwell Davies’s The Lighthouse and 8 songs for a mad king; Janacek’s The Diary of One Who Vanished; George Benjamin’s Into The Little Hill; Schoenberg’s Erwartung; and Philip Glass’ In the Penal Colony. Older productions included Die Zauberflöte; Albert Herring; Siren Song; A Midsummer Night’s Dream; and Così fan tutte. Recent engagements include Don Giovanni (Teatru Manoel, Malta) and Written on Skin (Melos Sinfonia).
