The soprano, who made her TDO debut in The Magic Flute, is an alumna of Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center. On Lyric’s mainstage she has been heard in eight roles, among them Woglinde/Das Rheingold, the Forest Bird/Siegfried, Clorinda/La cenerentola, and Frasquita/Carmen. In Chicago she has also been featured in the Harris Theater’s prestigious “Beyond the Aria” series. Additional recent performances include Newman’s house and role debuts at Palm Beach Opera as Adele/Die Fledermaus, as well as concerts with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (Carmina Burana) and the Alabama Symphony (Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9). Newman was recently a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl (“America in Space” celebratory concert). Among other concert credits are works of Bach, Mahler, Barber, Floyd, Francesco Ciluffo, and Maria Schneider at the Whittier Bach Festival, Lucerne Festival, Eastern Sierra Symphony Summer Festival, Grant Park Music Festival, and American Youth Symphony Orchestra. A member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Newman has been featured on the soundtracks of several Hollywood films.
