Sir David McVicar made his directorial debut with The Dallas Opera in 2001 with his production of Manon. His work was most recently seen in Dallas during the 2015-2016 season for the same opera. Productions include Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda and Il Trovatore (Metropolitan Opera, New York), Les Troyens (La Scala, Milan), Tristan und Isolde (Tokyo and Vienna), The Rake’s Progress, Madama Butterfly, La traviata and Idomeneo (Scottish Opera), The Turn of the Screw, Medea, Alcina and Tosca (English National Opera), The Turn of The Screw and Macbeth (Mariinsky), Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Giulio Cesare (Glyndebourne Festival), Wozzeck, Billy Budd and Giulio Cesare (Lyric Opera of Chicago), among many others. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012.
