The renowned lighting designer, making his TDO debut, has created lighting for nearly 70 Broadway productions, such as Fences, Blithe Spirit, The House of Blue Leaves, Blackbird, Death of a Salesman, The Pillowman, The Coast of Utopia (Part 1 – Voyage), Love! Valour! Compassion!, Urinetown, The Invention of Love, True West, The Diary of Anne Frank, Present Laughter, Nine, Raisin in the Sun, The Color Purple. For the Metropolitan Opera, MacDevitt has designed The Enchanted Island, Doctor Atomic, and Armida. MacDevitt has also designed for American Ballet Theatre, Tere O’Connor Dance, Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, Doug Varone and Dancers, Boston Ballet, and Nancy Bannon. MacDevitt is a five-time recipient of the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design, winning that honor for The Book of Mormon (2011), Joe Turner’s Come and Gone (2009), The Coast of Utopia (2007), The Pillowman (2005), and Into the Woods (2002). He is also a recipient of the OBIE, Bessie (with Tere O’Connor), Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics’ Circle, Hewes, and Drama Desk Awards.
