Olivia Duncan, mezzo-soprano, is from Orange County, California and received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Oberlin Conservatory and her Master of Music Degree from Southern Methodist University. In her time at SMU, Ms. Duncan performed the roles of Ruggiero in Alcina, Mrs. Gibbs in Our Town, and Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte. She has also enjoyed two years performing in The Dallas Opera’s outreach production The Bremen Town Musicians as well as assisting with their summer Opera Bootcamp. Ms. Duncan has also performed in the musical You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown as Schroeder and Broadway Anthems in Taos, New Mexico. In addition to her operatic roles, Ms. Duncan’s directing experience includes scenes from A Streetcar Named Desire, Tosca, Der Freischütz, Don Giovanni, and the premiere of the one act opera Waiting Room. She also directed scenes from Songs from Liquid Days at Oberlin Conservatory which was performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This upcoming year Ms. Duncan will be covering the roles of the Narrator in Jack and The Beanstalk and Veronica in Doctor Miracle.
