Jennifer Magill, mezzo-soprano, is a Performance Diploma student studying Vocal Performance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She is from League City, Texas and received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University and her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education degree from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Ms. Magill was one of the winners of the 2018 New Texas Symphony Orchestra Concerto and Aria Competition. At ACU, Ms. Magill performed many roles, including the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Mercedes in Carmen, Announcer in Gallantry, Mrs. McLean in Susannah, the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and Hansel in Hansel and Gretel. At SMU, Ms. Magill received the Roy and Sue Johnson Opera Theater Award. There she was cast as Lucy in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, was a performer in the summer SMU-in-Taos Broadway Anthems performance and was Mrs. Gibbs in the Meadows Opera Theater production of Our Town. During the 2019-2020 season, Ms. Magill was cast as Dorabella in the Meadows Opera Theater production of Cosí fan tutte. This upcoming year Ms. Magill is excited to be covering Mrs. Nimble/ Giant’s Wife in The Dallas Opera’s Educational Outreach Production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
