Ian Derrer, The Dallas Opera’s (TDO) Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO presided last night over the final Board and Trustees meeting of the company’s 2023/2024 Season. Four new members were elected to TDO’s Board of Directors: Roger Carroll, Milene Carvalho, Dr. Michael Lindsey, and Malcolm Winspear.
TDO also announced its two annual award recipients. Tenor Long Long has been named the 2023/2024 “Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year” for his TDO debut this spring as Romeo in Gounod’s setting of Shakespeare’s greatest love story, Romeo and Juliet. The annual award, selected exclusively by Dallas Opera subscribers, is given to a single performer each season in recognition of a particularly memorable and outstanding company debut.
