If you were lucky enough to attend the 20th annual Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition this past spring, you heard several tremendously talented young singers, including the top prize winner, 22-year-old Amber Wellborn. The lyric soprano from UNT recently took first place at the Texoma Regional NATS and was a Regional Finalist at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Awards (Southwest Region). She’s also starred in several productions at UNT Opera, including her most recent appearance in the title role of Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” earlier this year.
My point is: If you missed her before…Now’s your chance!
Amber will be performing with The Dallas Opera Orchestra’s Rogene Russell and the Fine Arts Chamber Players she co-founded at the Dallas Arboretum on July 27th. It’s part of the ensemble’s popular “Basically Beethoven Festival.”
Doors open at 2:00 pm and the pre-concert recital, featuring Ms. Wellborn performing a medley of beautiful works by Mozart, Poulenc, Schubert, Strauss, Brahms and Carlisle Floyd, begins at 2:30. It will be followed by the Chamber Players featured performance.
Seats are still available but I recommend you make your reservations now by calling 214-520-2219 or by email at bbf@fineartschamberplayers.org
