Opera brings together all the great arts forms — music, theater and dance. There is a lot happening on the stage and even more ways to enjoy your opera-going experience. The Dallas Opera offers a variety of programs, from lectures and discussions to informal happy hours, all designed to help you maximize your understanding of opera. We hope you will join us for an upcoming event.

Whether you’d like to listen to a formal lecture about a composer and the history of an opera or join in a lively discussion on social issues portrayed in a particular opera, we have an event for you.

Pre-Opera Talks Presented by Joy and Ronald Mankoff

Want to learn more about the opera you are seeing? Want to beat the traffic and enjoy a beverage while you learn? Join The Dallas Opera (TDO) for the Joy and Ronald Mankoff Pre-Opera Talks one hour before each TDO performance.

Pre-Opera Talks are informative and interactive 30-minute lectures featuring opera experts from all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Pre-Opera Talks are FREE with a ticket to a TDO performance and are designed to increase your knowledge and enjoyment of opera.

Joy and Ronald Mankoff Pre-Opera Talks are held in Margaret McDermott Performance Hall beginning one hour before each TDO performance in the Winspear Opera House (6:30 PM for evening performances; 1:00 PM on Sunday Matinees).

Seating is first-come, first-served and Margaret McDermott Performance Hall can accommodate approximately 2200 attendees.

    Opera Insights

Presented by the Dallas Opera Guild, Opera Insights is a lively panel discussion featuring the artists, music staff and the production teams for each of the upcoming TDO productions. Learn about the upcoming production, the conductor’s approach to the opera, how our singers began their careers and much more!

Opera Insights is moderated by members of The Dallas Opera Senior Staff and is presented by the Dallas Opera Guild. This event is FREE to the public. TDO Guild members who attend are entered into a special drawing.
