Stage Director Stephen Lawless is no stranger to The Dallas Opera. His riveting production of Roberto Devereux from this past season is still firmly in my mind. Stephen will return to direct our final installment in the Donizetti “Tudor Trilogy”, Anna Bolena, in the fall of 2010. But, how has he been spending his summer?
Stephen directed a new production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore for the Santa Fe Opera. The production opened on July 15 and runs through August 28. The action is updated to the World War II era. From there, Stephen will be heading out to sunny California to revive his traditional production of L’elisir for Los Angeles Opera.
