    Welcome autumn with some of the most famous music of all time!

    Music from Carmen, Turandot, Norma, Il trovatore, Pagliacci, The Magic Flute, and more—including a sneak preview of music from TDO’ s upcoming 2022 season with selections from Madame Butterfly and The Pearl Fishers!

    Internationally celebrated singers include sopranos Maria Agresta, Kathryn Lewek, Ewa Płonka, and Lauren Snouffer—countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen—tenor Gregory Kunde—bass-baritones Mark S. Doss and Michael Sumuel. Emmanuel Villaume leads The Dallas Opera Orchestra; hosted by Paul Curran, renowned stage director.

    Limited capacity! First-come, first-served. Limit of 4 tickets per household.

    Health & Safety Protocols: Face masks are required for indoor performances when moving about the venue and when seated, regardless of vaccination status. Fall 2021 events will be limited to 50% capacity to allow for social distancing.     Tickets are required for admittance and are no longer available online. The Box Office opens at 6:00pm day-of-show for walk-up reservations.  

    The performance will be approximately one hour and 20 minutes with no intermission. Digital programs and supertitles are available at the event.

    Garden Serenades

    The Dallas Opera and members of the Dallas Opera Orchestra present a series of free weekend chamber concerts in a variety of outdoor settings, celebrating spring and the return of live performances. See below for a list of dates and venues. Each performance will include two 40-minute sets with a 30-minute break. Programs and artists are subject to change.

    DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART

    Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11, 1:00 pm

    The Dallas Opera National Vocal Competition

    WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

    People’s Choice Award (determined by audience vote): Blake Denson, baritone

    Millions of people watch American Idol and The Voice. Why? Because it’s fascinating to see the best-of-the-best young talent compete for a shot at stardom. Now, opera fans can be in the house as some of the nation’s best young professional singers (many already performing with national opera companies) compete for major prize money.

    Hear the eight finalists (chosen from more than 300 applicants!) perform with The Dallas Opera Orchestra — and watch as the panel of international experts, including Music Director Emmanuel Villaume, choose the winner!

    You’ll be part of the action by voting in “The People’s Choice” category. All tickets just $10!

    Winners are selected by a distinguished panel of judges, chaired by The Dallas Opera’s Artistic Consultant David Lomelí and including Maestro Villaume; Afton Battle, General Director of Fort Worth Opera; Christina Scheppelmann, General Director of Seattle Opera; Jean Kellogg, Executive Director of the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera; and Brian Zeger, Artistic Director of the Marcus Vocal Arts Department at The Juilliard School.

    Community Concert

    Join The Dallas Opera and NorthPark Center for an exciting performance of your favorite opera arias! From classic cartoons to magical movie moments—you already know lots more opera than you think!  Come enjoy a single selection while you’re shopping or stick around for a full hour of opera’s greatest hits performed by thrilling young singers accompanied by The Dallas Opera Orchestra. This program, conducted by Stephanie Rhodes Russell of the prestigious Dallas Opera Hart Institute, includes music from Bizet’s Carmen, Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and more! We’ll see you at NorthPark for this fun FREE performance!
