Celebrating its 5th year of advancing the cause of accomplished women conductors and administrators, the Linda and Mitch Hart Institute is changing the face of classical music leadership. In 2015, The Dallas Opera committed itself to a 20-year initiative designed to address the ongoing, worldwide problem of gender imbalance at the podium. The result was a groundbreaking, annual, two-week program with a top-tier international faculty to provide hands-on master classes, seminars, technical training, media training and one-on-one career counseling. The program culminates in a popular public concert conducted by all six women.
This year’s residency took place in Dallas starting October 27, 2019 and culminated in one public performance two weeks later. The six conductors conducted a cast of exceptional young singers and The Dallas Opera Orchestra in concert on November 9, 2019.
The Dallas Opera is equally resolved to address the needs of American women opera administrators now striving to break through the “glass ceiling” and rise to the top ranks of their profession.
If you are interested in supporting the next wave of opera conductors and administrators—and ensuring that it includes exceptionally talented women—your generosity will have lasting impact.
