Twentieth-century musical icon Philip Glass has collaborated with such diverse figures as David Bowie and Yo-Yo Ma, and now we’re getting an inside peek at the mature artist at work and on the road, courtesy of a new documentary by filmmaker Scott Hicks, scheduled to air this week on KERA.
This Renaissance-type looks back as well as forward: Dallas Opera patrons will no doubt remember our big-screen presentation last summer of Bela Lugosi’s version of Bram Stoker’s novel, “Dracula.” I don’t know how many people have made a point of telling me how thoroughly knocked-out they were by Glass’s evocative scoring of this classic film.
Thanks to “American Masters” and KERA for bringing us closer to the man and his art.
