Rod Gilfry as a romantic leading man: Check! As a terrific choice to lead a national tour of an exciting revival of a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical theater icon: Check! Check! As a Frenchman: Uh……..well, let me think about that a moment.
This is the Lincoln Center Theater production of SOUTH PACIFIC that had critics going ga-ga in search of superlatives. The California native will be singing the role of the dashing Frenchman, Emile de Becque, opposite Carmen Cusack’s Nellie Forbush. If you will recall, Rod was last seen here in our delightful production of THE MERRY WIDOW, starring with Ruth Ann Swenson – a show everyone seemed to love.
The national tour of SOUTH PACIFIC kicks off September 18th at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre and we wish Rod and company a successful, joyful run of this true American classic!
Dites-moi pourquoi, ya’all!
