Congratulations are due to Michael Kahn, who directed our wonderful production of Romeo and Juliet last season, on being recognized by the Tony Awards Committee.
Washington, D.C.’s Shakespeare Theatre is to receive this year’s Regional Theatre Award at the televised ceremony next month, and Michael has been the artistic director of that company since it was founded twenty-five years ago.
Last year’s production of Gounod’s setting of Shakespeare’s play, was Michael’s first time staging the opera, but he has, of course, done the play many times over the years.
He also directed our unforgettable production of Samuel Barber’s Vanessa in 1993.
Bravo Michael!
