Dallas Opera President, Dr. Kern Wildenthal, has been honored – along with his brother Hobson – with the Distinguished Alumni Award from Sul Ross State University in Alpine. Both are scheduled to receive the prestigious award during homecoming ceremonies on November 7th.
On the heels of that welcome news, we read in Robert Miller’s column in “The Dallas Morning News” that Kern and Marnie were notified by the Eugene H. McDermott Foundation that it has decided to donate a million dollars to the Southwestern Medical Foundation to establish a family fund in their names – focusing on “cultural activities.”
According to Mr. Miller, this fund would allow students, faculty and staff members of UT Southwestern Medical School and the University of Texas at Dallas to enjoy cultural programs and performances throughout the city.
Congratulations from all of us at the Dallas Opera!
BRAVO!
