The well-received world premiere of “Il Postino” has prompted LA Opera to bring the postman, if not to your door, close enough. The company has announced plans to present two pre-taped outdoor screenings of the new work to audiences in Downtown L.A. and Costa Mesa. There are only about 300 seats left for the remaining performances of Daniel Catan’s new work and this ought to generate a lot of goodwill among those who can’t attend.
However, again, these are not simulcasts but screenings of a pre-taped performance. What you will be seeing tomorrow night on the big screens in Annette Strauss Square and in the Plaza in front of the Winspear Opera House will be opera – happening live!
I hope you are already planning to participate in this free, fabulous event – doors open at 5:00 and the performance begins at 7:30. See you tomorrow evening!
