Yes, we realize that every major sports franchise in the area, including college teams, has an important game this weekend – and that an opera-company-to-be-named-later is presenting a new version of Wagner’s “Das Rheingold,” via the magic of HD technology, at a theater near you.
Yes, yes, we know that – on top of all that – it’s glorious weather for the State Fair of Texas.
But, hey…Wouldn’t you rather go opera-ing?
Turn on the DVR and meet us at Hamon Hall Sunday afternoon (October 10th) for the company’s 2010-2011 Season Preview Day, beginning at noon with Dr. Stephen Dubberly (doors open at 11:45 AM) working his anticipated magic, followed by an engaging salon discussion at 1:00 PM with Music Director Graeme Jenkins and stage director Stephen Lawless (“Anna Bolena” and “Don Giovanni”), moderated by SMU’s Dr. Kevin Salfen.
At 2:30, there will be a brief performance by Resident Young Artist Aaron Blake and at 3:00 – it’s the Dallas Opera Guild’s “Opera Insights” program featuring Paulo Szot and members of the production team and cast of “Don Giovanni.”
See you there, I hope!
