UNVEIL: the Dallas Opera’s 2011 Gala, chaired by Jessica Jesse, brought us the world premiere of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s new song cycle, A Question of Light, in partnership with the Dallas Museum of Art. The reviews are now trickling in: Olin Chism at KERA’s “Art and Seek” blog says it was obvious that the audience was keenly interested in hearing these new works sung by acclaimed American baritone Nathan Gunn. Scott Cantrell of “The Dallas Morning News” says the six songs “should have legs” (not to be confused with ZZ Top).
And this glowing review just in from “Dallas Dance Examiner’s” Marilee Vergati, who called the evening “a beautiful fusion of art, music and voice.”
Were you there? How did you react to this memorable recital?
