Dallas Opera Board member John Dayton has been singled out (and deservedly so) by “The Dallas Morning News” for his crucial role in the conception, planning and opening of the new Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Downtown Dallas. Mr. Dayton was one of six nominees put forward by the GuideDaily staff of the “News” for “Texan of the Year” in the arts.
The other nominees were songstress Beyonce Knowles, DTC’s Kevin Moriarty, Steven Jones of Lyric Stage in Irving, Chef Stephan Pyles and Janis Burklund, Director of the Dallas Film Commission.
Congratulations to Mr. Dayton, his remarkable wife and fellow Board member Arlene – and all the illustrious nominees!
