SUPERNUMERARIES (NON-SINGING EXTRAS) WOMEN, MEN and CHILD NEEDED for

SAMSON & DALILA

DALLAS, August 21, 2017 – The Dallas Opera is seeking women and men to perform on stage with world class opera singers in a production of
biblical proportions, SAMSON & DALILA by Camille Saint-Saëns. The production opens on Friday, October 20, 2017 for five performances
in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, ending on November 5, 2017. Supernumeraries (opera’s fancy term for “extras”) must be able to participate in all five performances, as well as take part in several rehearsals. No singing is required and a small stipend will be provided.

Supernumeraries will be used in crowd scenes featuring biblical roles as:

  • Acolytes  Samson_Final (427x640)
  • Soldiers
  • Philistines
  • Hebrews
  • The Child

Some supernumeraries will be used in the famous bacchanale scene. Certain men may be asked to appear shirtless in the production.  

Those wishing to participate must first email supers@dallasopera.org for more information by September 15, 2017.  The audition will take place on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at The Dallas Opera Karayanis Rehearsal Production Center located adjacent to Fair Park at 4301 S. Fitzhugh, Dallas, TX  75210 (follow signs for Gate 12, parking lot entrance off Gaisford St.).

THE DALLAS OPERA 2017-2018 SEASON MAINSTAGE INFORMATION

The Dallas Opera celebrates its Sixty-First International Season in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Dallas Arts District. Evening performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 p.m. unless otherwise stated.  English translations will be projected above the stage at every performance and assistance is available for the hearing impaired.  With the exception of FIRST NIGHT, The Joy and Ronald Mankoff Pre-Opera Talk will begin one hour prior to curtain, at most performances.
