Metropolitan Opera Cash Flow

A river, in fact, might be an understatement. The latest Met fundraising campaign has taken in a record-smashing $182 million, according to “The New York Times.” However, according to this report, it’s not enough of an infusion to resolve the company’s ongoing financial problems, which is actually both sobering and rather mind-boggling.

In an unrelated note, Mariusz Kwiecien, who performed here nearly a decade ago, has been forced by an injury to withdraw from this week’s opening of “Don Giovanni” at the Met.  Get the grim details here.
