Happy New Year to all the wonderful friends and patrons of the Dallas Opera. This is my first blog entry of 2011 and definitely not my last, as things are really getting ready to heat up over at the Winspear. ROMEO & JULIET by Charles Gounod is the next production in the line up for the current season and it’s going to be a terrific show. I’m going to be portraying the character Tybalt, Juliet’s jealous cousin, who’s temper get’s the better of him in Act 3 leading to his untimely demise. Also I have the incredible opportunity to sing the title role of Romeo in the Student MatinĂ©e performances which are meant to introduce young opera singers and opera audiences alike to The Dallas Opera. I’ve had a great time preparing both of these roles over the holidays and can’t wait to begin rehearsals this TODAY!

Last week TDO announced next years season. I sang a few selections at the “Sneak Peek” event on Thursday. I know you will be pleased with next years selections, which are comprised of myriad of wonderful operas, including a number of repertory favorites.

Happy New Year! And I will see you at ROMEO & JULIET.
