Aria Ready for China?

With 60 million Chinese children studying the violin, another 40 million playing piano, Chinese ties to Western Classical Music have grown exponentially in recent decades (simply following the results of┬áthe Cliburn Competition is enough to make that clear) but now something else is happening in Beijing. It seems that Western-style opera is beginning to take the town by storm. Here’s more from “The Toronto Star” on what it could mean for both China and the future of opera.
