Scotching the Rumor

No, Virginia, there is no “Moby-Claus.”
I’ve seen a rumor circulating among opera aficionados on the internet that the October 12th WRR “Dallas Opera Encore Performances” broadcast of the world premiere production of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s MOBY-DICK will be streamed, simultaneously, like much of the station’s programming. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but, contractural obligations prohibit us from allowing WRR to stream the new work, as that would–technically speaking–legally constitute an additional (prohibited) broadcast.

Perhaps someday all these internet issues will be simplified, making the all-important music and performances more readily available to eager audiences–like yourselves.
