Heggie at Cafe Madrid

by Suzanne Calvin

For a handful of select local media, it was a fascinating inside look at the process (and the ticking clock) that accompanies a world premiere.

Renowned composer Jake Heggie -- hard at work on orchestrations for “Moby-Dick,” which will have its world premiere at the Dallas Opera in late April -- is back in Dallas and busy as can be.

Despite his jam-packed schedule, Jake, a truly gracious fellow, welcomed the opportunity to meet with media at Cafe Madrid’s Travis Street location (a.k.a. tapas heaven) to answer questions about “where things stand today.”

More details in this report from longtime classical music writer and critic Olin Chism for KERA’s Art and Seek blog.
