The First Lady and the “Lady of the House”

by Suzanne Calvin

I hope you caught Alan Peppard’s column  in the “Dallas Morning News” on the inaugural performance of the season at the Winspear Opera House (attended from start to finish by former First Lady Laura Bush, the honorary chair of OVATION!).  One thing’s for sure: There’s only one Margot Winspear, and what a pleasure to see her there!

As a past box office manager for The Dallas Opera, now living in Austin, Texas, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am for The Dallas Opera family and for Dallas that they finally have a hall to match the quality of performances. I am so sad to be missing it! And a teensy bit jealous! But mostly thrilled. 99.9% thrilled. Give Mr. Pell my warmest regards. I miss being involved!
