Another Urban Oasis of an Opera House

by Suzanne Calvin

One of the world’s most prestigious architecture prizes has gone to a European firm with a name I wouldn’t attempt to pronounce.  The point is: we’re seeing a definite trend in 21st century opera houses that embrace their citizenry and surroundings rather than cordially inviting bystanders to “Get lost.”  To give credit where credit it due, it’s a trend that can be traced back at least as far as the iconic Sydney Opera House…but isn’t it grand, in just the most inviting of ways?   Photo courtesy of Fast Company.
